“CeCe’s Closet” on Ebay May 1st 2010

Your CDs music be postmarked April 30th to be eligible for nomination consideration. The deadline for DVDs is May 14th. The 2010 En Sound Music Awards and Conference promises to draw a huge gathering in the city of Houston and features some of the best independent talents you will ever hear anywhere.

In the past, the independent artists have attempted to create a sound and a demo to present to a major label in hopes of being discovered. The music industry was a much closed society which did not allow these artists to produce quality products or to obtain distribution or recognition. One of the greatest obstacles was the inability of the independent artists to gain access to the technology

necessary to make their music competitive. Another challenge the independent artists face were the limited access to radio due to
politics and the pay-for-play mentality that existed in radio promotion.

In recent years, the plain field has become much more level. The independent artists now have access to technology that they can only  previously dream of. Entire albums can be created in a home studio.  Additionally, these advances in technology have driven pricing down,  therefore making the studio experience a more realistic possibility.

The internet has opened up a new method for distribution and so the independent artists are no longer dependent upon the major labels
to move their products. In addition to these facts, the government crackdown on pay-for-play policies in the radio industry has once
again opened the airwaves to the independent artists.

Bibles for the World recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of Watkin Roberts bringing the Gospel of John to Senvon, India in the state of Manipur, reports MNN.

Mawii Pudaite and her husband, Ro Pudaite–co-founders of BFTW, attended the ceremony which took place at the Watkins Centenary Chapel along the Barak River–the exact place Roberts first preached the Gospel. Pudaite said of the community during the celebration, “Never in the history of Senvon has there been such unity and love demonstrated among themselves, and God honored that unity.”

God honored the unity in numerous ways. One way was in drawing people back to Him: “Scores of young people recommitted their lives to the Lord, and 29 of them surrendered their lives for full-time missionary service, wherever God would send them,” Pudaite said.

These 29 individuals have already begun their ministry in India, and before the end of the celebration, almost 70 percent of their needed support was met.

God also blessed the unity through nearly 7000 people visiting Senvon, which has a population of only 3000. He provided food, shelter and water for every individual. Pudiate said, “It was a foretaste of heaven.”

Additionally, God protected everyone attending the celebration, and persecution was not an issue.

“God gave us a favor. There has always been persecution. We just praise God that He gave us a peaceful time,” Pudaite said.

Now, as Bibles for the World moves past this milestone, they are looking to raise up 100 new national missionaries across India this year. These missionaries will reach out to people who have still never heard the Gospel.

Christians in the United Kingdom are stepping up to the plate to make sure their views on controversial issues are being considered by candidates running for the British Parliament in the May 6 general election, reports Michael Ireland, chief correspondent, ASSIST News Service.

Clergy and religious lobby groups are keen for candidates to be quizzed about their stance on moral issues, amid fears that their traditional views are being marginalized in modern Britain, according to an article in the online version of The Telegraph newspaper by Martin Beckford at www.telegraph.co.uk.

Beckford reports that churchgoers attending the meetings, to be held in places of worship of all Christian denominations from Aberdeen in the north to Exeter in the far southwest, are likely to ask political hopefuls for their opinion on marriage, abortion, assisted suicide and faith schools.

Nola Leach, Chief Executive of CARE, a leading Christian charity and research group, said: “In the context of widespread voter apathy and public disillusionment with politics, these hustings demonstrate the dynamic and important role that the Church is playing in helping people engage in the political process.”

Dan Boucher, its Director of Parliamentary affairs, added: “We have never before had so many church hustings register with us and with just a week of the campaign gone we expect more hustings to be announced in the coming days. It’s great to see the Church facilitating such a crucial process in the public square.”

Beckford says that so far clergy in 113 constituencies have signed up to CARE’s list of church hustings. A further 14 “Christians and Candidates” events are being held by Christian Concern for our Nation, some of which will be chaired by the outspoken former Bishop of Rochester, the Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali.

Beckford explains that some of the hustings are being held in the constituencies of politicians who have clashed with church groups, such as Harriet Harman, the architect of the controversial Equality Act.

Beckford says most of the meetings are likely to take place in the week before polling day on May 6, and CARE has published a guide for parishes on how to make sure they run smoothly.

He says they risk accusations of unfairness as the Church of England has told clergy not to invite candidates from the “racist” British National Party.

The newspaper says that an official C of E guidance document states: “Churches are under no legal obligation to include the BNP in election hustings meetings, or give space to such parties for public meetings, if they consider this ‘association’ could have detrimental affect on their reputation and activities (as charities).”

The newspaper goes on to say that church groups are keen to make an impact on the general election after a series of cases in which it has been claimed that Christians suffered discrimination in the workplace, along with high-profile clashes between senior clerics and Labour Party ministers over equality legislation that was seen as an attack on freedom of conscience.

The newspaper states that Roman Catholic bishops have already told voters to ask prospective MPs (Members of Parliament) what practical steps they would take to support marriage, and what place they believe religion has in society.

In a close-run election campaign, the leaders of both main Labour and Conservative parties have tried to win over religious voters, the newspaper adds.

It also reports that in his Easter message, Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown hailed Christians as “the conscience of our country” and spoke of the “redeeming power of faith.”

The newspaper report also says David Cameron, the Conservative leader, gave an interview to the Catholic Herald newspaper last week in which he called for the abortion time limit to be reduced from 24 weeks, and said that he believed faith schools should be free to teach sex education as they see fit.
